New York State Requirements for a Home Inspector License:

1) High school diploma or its equivalent

2) Education: 5 Modules totaling 140-hours.

The need for home inspectors has skyrocketed in the last few years. Because of the real estate boom and the increased cost of homes, most buyers get a home inspection before purchasing a home. A full time home inspector can build up a business to earn a substantial income. As a part time job it is ideal to supplement income as home inspections can generally be done on the weekend.

This 22 1/2 hour course is an introduction to inspecting homes. The course is an overview of the 140 hours of education and training that you need for the New York State Home Inspector License. The course includes: overview of the profession, the home inspection business, how to set up an office, license law, the home inspection procedures (interior, exterior and site), tools of the trade, environmental issues, report writing and legal considerations.

*This course is approved for 22.5 hr. Continuing Education credit for NYS salesperson, and broker licenses.
